The Wild Irish – Irish band
"Thrilling Irish music played at its best"
Wild Irish thrills audiences with a superb and exciting presentation of traditional and contemporary Irish music. The band features the legendary fiddle playing of Donegal’s Brian Patton, the fine voice and driving guitar work of Pete Kelly. To complete this fine line up, the band now boasts the services of the talented Simon Hayward on the bass guitar. Working as a duo (Patton and Kelly), Brian and Pete developed a reputation as an act could entertain at the highest levels of the music industry and provided an evening to suit audiences of all ages. They worked with some of the greats of Irish music including Paddy Reilly and the Fureys and The Davy Arthur Band. There was even a evening supporting Ska legends Bad Manners which had the whole audience leaping around the concert arena in Croyden.
The inclusion of Simon Hayward on bass during 2002, has given the band even more scope to develop as the premier Irish band in the Midlands. Simon ’s background includes delta blues, country, rock, folk, sixties and of course Irish music. He is a true believer in keeping music live and has demonstrated his talent as a songwriter with one of his songs “White Lady” in 1998 receiving international airplay on many radio stations including Derek Jameson’s radio 2 show.
The band is the perfect choice for those occasions when something special is required. Wedding guests will find themselves rocking and reeling to a wide range of music all played in the band’s own memorable style.
The band plays a selection of music ranging from Foster and Allen right through to the Pogues and Sawdoctors. To ensure all audiences are catered for, rock n roll standards, country and pop covers can also be included.
